Christy Hayhoe has an Hon. B.Sc. degree from the University of Toronto, including a specialist double major in Organic and Bioorganic Chemistry. She graduated with High Distinction and with several awards in the sciences.
Hayhoe has worked as a freelance editor and science writer since 1999, including among her commercial clients well-established educational publishing companies such as McGraw-Hill, Nelson Education, and Scholastic Canada. As an academic editor, she has worked with scholars from a wide range of academic institutions in North America and abroad, including multiple institutions in the US, Canada, China, Sweden, and Denmark. For the last seven years, she has been associated with ATMOS Research & Consulting, a scientific research and consulting firm focused on climate change modelling and impacts in the US. Currently, Hayhoe is the language editor for Engineering, an international journal sponsored by the Chinese Academy of Engineering.
